Jumping back in after about 8 years...
I have a prediction (I'm a bit of a platform perfectionist) which is:
1. MightyNetworks will draw a different crowd.
2. The OG's on this forum will stay on this forum, as long as others also stay on this forum.
I've been toying with MightyNetworks since it first began, when Circle was in its infant years. There's really nothing that will replace the old, organized, thread-based forums because by design they encourage calmn, quiet thoughtfulness.
MightyNetworks has a warm body feel, but that is mostly a false feeling. No one really engages with others, and what happens is people sign up, post away for hours, and then drop off as soon as a shinier toy comes along. It is not built for longevity, and I myself have never stayed with a single group for more than a few weeks.
I also predict that at some point, a library of GTD content will emerge that is separate from all the forums, but can be tapped into from different angles. 2026 is a strange time. A lot of great platforms have completely shut down or been bought out, and DAUs are down on all the new-kids-on-the-block apps. Nostr and Farcaster have not taken off as predicted and no one in Community Building World really knows what's next.
Maybe it's meant to be this way!

Gmail, by itself, decided GTD emails were spam at some point. I haven't logged into Gmail in many many years, it's funny it developed its own decision-making process.

I've been here reading posts for a few days to get the feel of the GTD Forum again (so refreshing), and it looks like I missed an important development about the GTD Forum transitioning to the Mighty Networks platform. I feel very sorry and disappointed to hear about this change. Several sites I visited chose the Mighty Networks platform, and I was not happy using that platform. I like this easy to understand GTD Forum with its logical construction, easy to use format, and thoughtful, in-depth conversational exchanges that are located where they are supposed to be and stay there. I suppose we are trying to attract people, and we are expecting them to prefer a social media kind of platform, but I never felt comfortable with the Mighty Networks structure, and it does not attract me. I found it very confusing to use, even after some time. It sounds like the transition is active now and unlikely to change, so I may check it out, if I'm invited.

Actually @John Forrister hasn't stated whether this forum will be shut down -- even though I've asked him directly right here in the forum. Even if the powers that be decide to pull the plug on the forums here that are accessible only to GTD Connect subscribers, they might well decide to keep the public forum available on this platform. Or not. It's up in the air.
I think we need to be careful about guessing at the "why" behind the move. John did say this platform required an ungodly amount of customization to get it to do the things it does, where as the Mighty Networks platform doesn't require anywhere near that much work on the back-end. The people behind GTD Connect do have lives with competing demands they have to balance.

I've been interacting with the new Mighty Networks platform. It's become pretty active and there are a lot of new users posting there. The conversations have been lively, interesting and helpful (at least to me). Having spent some time on the platform, I've found it wasn't all that hard to get used to.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say those who are resisting the change are missing out. For me the benefits of the transition have far outweighed the minimal cognitive effort needed to make the switch. But people are entitled to do -- or not do -- whatever they want with their time, for their own reasons. So if anyone has decided not to hop on over to the dark side (a joke -- it's very Jedi over there, not at all Sith-y), I genuinely hope you'll take care and I hope I'll "see" you again somewhere on the interwebz.

Hi Bill, I apologize for missing a direct question. I know a couple of things for sure. Whatever we do, we won't ever just delete this forum. And GTD Connect on Mighty Networks is in for major change in the next few months. We're developing a dedicated standalone mobile app, and redesigning the interface.
Now I need to turn my Saturday attention learn more of the Star Wars references. I confess I haven't even watched most of the movies after the original three.

Well, the original three are all you need to have seen to understand the Jedi/Sith reference: Obi-Wan, Yoda and eventually Luke were all Jedi; Darth Vader was a Sith Lord. This is just one person's opinion, but the first three were really the only worthwhile ones. The prequels were just Lucas' misguided attempts to recapture lightning in a bottle. Everything afterward was just a Disney cash-grab. Again, just one person's opinion.

Come to think of it, maybe David Allen needs to learn some of those Jedi mind tricks. Instead of "these are not the droids you're looking for," he could tell people, "This amorphous to-do list is not the next action list you're looking for." Instead of training people to "trust your feelings" like Obi-Wan coached Luke to do, Allen could tell people, "Trust your trusted system if your inventory of commitments is current and complete."

Hi, John and Everyone,
I'm relieved to hear that this GTD forum will not ever be deleted. Most GTD subjects never seem to cease being relevant, so I hope all the posts remain here, even if they are migrated to the new platform. Besides, I'm fond of people here, so being able to come to my familiar community has value for me, and the functionality of the platform thankfully makes sense to me.
GTD administrative people, probably in clear collaboration with DA, are certainly being trusting to store the personal and important and extensive lifetime work of David Allen and all the GTD Connect and GDT Forum data on this new platform. Aside from lack of appeal and difficulty navigating the user interface, Mighty Networks is also a bit flakey in my experience.
For example, I was required to use Mighty Networks for connecting with other course members during an overlapping time period in two different courses. These courses were offered by different auspices that were not in any way related, except that they were both using the Mighty Networks platform.
At that time, Mighty Networks had a spot in the personal settings where one could enter a Personal ID note to introduce oneself to other members. This note might relate to the subject of the web site. For example, I might say in a Personal ID note here on the GTD Forum, "I have been studying GTD for over 20 years, and I have been struggling to implement GTD, and I want to learn how to get a GTD system started in a way that works well for me." It is whatever the person wants to reveal.
I set up Mighty Networks for Company A, Course 1. I entered my Personal ID note there that was unique to that course. A bit later, I set up Mighty Networks for Company B, Course 1, which I intended to be unique to that course. I discovered then with a bit of a shock that my Personal ID note for Company B, Course 1, which I had not yet entered, was nonetheless showing up on the Company B, Course 1, Mighty Networks platform, and also that it was identical to my Personal ID note for Company A, Course 1. What was happening here???
Mighty Networks was automatically configuring my Personal ID information the same way for these two unrelated companies and courses without my knowledge or consent, although they had nothing in common except the Mighty Networks platform. I had to manually change the Personal ID note for Company B, Course 1, so it did not have inapplicable information that was supposed to be only for Company A, Course 1. I consider this to be a bit flakey.
This is one small part of the problem of privacy, which seems to have been eclipsed, since social media and many other web sites seem to regard their users (us) as the product they are selling or trading or influencing. People who care about their privacy, if anyone still does, might want to read and try to understand the legalese of the Privacy Policy of MIghty Networks.
I've been giving this a shot, but it takes time, and it is confusing to me, and I have no clarity to report, except that there seem to be certain opt out possiblities that differ by U.S. State. The ironic thing about this is that to opt out, one must provide their personal information in order to be removed. Sheesh! Wouldn't it be better for us to be able to opt in rather than opt out, so our personal information is never available to anyone unless we knowingly and voluntarily have a choice and agree to provide it? In my view, sure it would. Even then, there is still the overwhelming problem that once something is online, there may be no assurance that it is not still out there somewhere.
Privacy issues concern me deeply, so I though I'd share this. I'm wondering whether I'm alone in these concerns.
