From my knowledge - it’s a type of e-mail company programme which is world wide - which allows type of user accounts to - make or save certain contacts in there e-mail account (saved as actual contacts or persons) - where (when the user sends to a certain titled address say 3 daysv follow up or 1 week follow up (the email is then sent back to the users inbox in that tim.

Myself Tim - only have ever used this basic feature of follow up which is quite paradoxical because almost all the time (when I have been sent a 'follow up' email- I have actually also not really done anything the the message a second time.

Obviously the reason for this type of company - is to send reminders.

The purpose of this post is also see if other users have any experience how to properly implement.

and for x time maybe 1 or 2 weeks - i've felt like hasn't been best how i've been using it - follow up mail in my Gmail - where I have maybe 7 un red follow ups in my inbox, had idea

categorise is it a waiting for ?

if so - I can leave it if something already opened in my broswer

ask if this is something I want to do now

Or something I want to cross of my list?

Incomplete Next Actions after starting can be a fundamental source of stress according to subjective understanding of David Allen
Would agree as being a self-evident universal truth and a possible health concern

Thus, corralling one's "Follow ups" might be a healthy solution in the right direction ?

"Follow up" can a good verb in general or in particular a:
Project
Context
Next
Action
Waiting
For item

As you see GTD fit. . . .
 
These services might be helpful to some, but for me it would just add a layer of complication to my system. I have enough confidence that my system will alert me to things that have to get done.

I just use a label. Then it's easy to get my inbox to zero. I try not to work from email so I limit as many emails as possible. But it really can't be helped. 1738678857240.png
 
I have three labels I move emails to. Follow up, to read, and waiting for. I don’t need an outside app to do it. I use Gmail too.

Makes it easier for weekly review. Follow up and waiting for go in my system

. I try not to "work" out of email. To read is just that something I got I want to read later.

Yes. If I read the item and do it then, I delete them then. If I defer I put them in the read later or follow up folder. At my weekly review I put follow up and waiting for into my system.

I use the weekly review to capture all my loose ends. My goal is to not have any open loops in my system. It is a way to get it into my system from email so I don't have to look in two areas. Yes it might be a week. If it is more urgent to me i might do it when it shows up. If it is time sensitive it goes on my calendar. Waiting fors for me are usually not that urgent. If they are they go immediately into the system. I don't have that many that I wait on. Usually, I put them into my system and not hang out in email.
