About a problem using Davids email system being able to archive emails within waiting for folder"

Yes. And an email I send, knowing I'm going to be WF an answer, I bcc to myself so I can move to "Waiting for" label.
You - don't use the labels folders but bcc to yourself your saying? and then - add it manually to in box
Then I don't have to remember to go to send file to label it.
you don't label
The only time I really use the inbox icons like delete and archive, is when I receive an email
ok you mainly use 2 inbox icons
or when I have time to do a quick 2 min to clear inbox.
right I don't clear inbox
In that two minutes I will delete archive or label as much as I can. I usually have nothing in inbox after weekly review. If there is something that has a next action for me,
(such as waiting for (is one of your section on apple notes
I will copy paste into my apple notes where I keep next actions etc. Granted, I sometimes have info in two places. But I can clean that up during a weekly review. Unless I "want" to keep both.

These are the labels I use in gmail. During my weekly review i will add waiting fors to @waiting for in my apple notes. any other items that seem like projects or next actions will go on those lists. I try not to work out of two systems. I focus mainly on my apple notes GTD set up. 1728587918664.png

OK
I have waiting for or action support folder as per the asana guide

so - you do actually use mail folder (and afterwards add to apple notes you are saying)

-saying about stuff generically just on your mind

"why do you write above you try not work out of two system - then also write you use 3 gmail folders?

Gmail is not where I do GTD. In other words, I don't have two sets of projects and two sets of next actions. I could be in email all day if I wasn't careful, and get nothing done. I delete a lot of emails. I unsubscribe to a lot of publications. And periodically I put "scan email folders" on my @computer list. Or "read "read through" emails". If it becomes a project it goes on my project list. If I want to save it I archive it. I just don't want to spend all day with email. I use the two minute rule when first looking at an email. Or I delete, or defer it. Obviously if there is a deadline I put it on my calendar.

Oh right - well from myself using the asana guide it suggested I use gmail differently to yourself - for example suggested creating a google user to send mail (which automatically ) adds it to list manager
In other words, I don't have two sets of projects and two sets of next actions.
in my memory - on the asana guide I saw it written something -they found people actually prefer to have a second copy of certain actions e.g. having information in e-mail and also list manager
I could be in email all day if I wasn't careful, and get nothing done.
I don't get that much e-mails myself, right now I wouldn't be able to spend "all day" on e-mail
I delete a lot of emails.
I don't
I unsubscribe to a lot of publications.
I should
And periodically I put "scan email folders" on my @computer list.
Scan e-mail folders on your icloud ?
Or "read "read through" emails". If it becomes a project it goes on my project list.
ok
If I want to save it I archive it.
I have archived alot more things than yourself -for example if I am not sure about something ' I will archive it - do you think this is bad?
I just don't want to spend all day with email. I use the two minute rule when first looking at an email. Or I delete, or defer it.
right is this what I follow
Obviously if there is a deadline I put it on my calendar.
your digital calendar ?

This on "
  • Oct 10, 2024" was the last place literally where I was writing to X users - about the topic of e-mail, my e-mails system , and problems with it, where feels its cluttered etc
I have it in my mind or memory that persons @René Lie was also advising me giving me examples of a "someday " folder, - which I felt when saw that , he didn't understand how I tried to implement the Asana guide e-mail advice

any way I would think in order to myself to improve from here - I would need to re read this entire thread (from the point were I was explaining the original problem)

maybe quote it (like am here with Fooddude) and go through it chronologically piece by piece, is that the only way?

WE?

Nice to hear your voice!

To your example in the recording, you ALMOST answer it yourself. You don't want to do anything about it now, but you don't want to delete it, because it may have future value. Those emails go into "Someday/Maybe"!

maybe what need to do

point - maybe would help if gave exact details facts, more factual descriptions about problem was trying share of having two 'titled folders on Gmail- and at same time ' titled moving stuff into them labelled action and waiting - for for example but thne basically just leaving the stuff

I may have written something like that, yes.

The way I practice GTD is that any email associated with a project or/and a next action, is written as such in my list manager too (previously Asana, now Notion) ,so that I don't have to look into my email when I review my projects and next actions.

Waiting for and Someday/Maybe, on the other hand, are not entered into my list manager in addition to being kept in the Waiting for and Someday/Maybe folders. The Waiting for folder is being reviewed regularly and I send follow-up emails as needed, and whenever a Someday/Maybe becomes a project or a next action, the email is moved to the corresponding folder and entered into my list manager.

I don't necessarily think that you need to share an example here.

Whenever you look at an email and decide that you don't need or want to do anything with it now, but you don't want to delete in case you want to do something with it in the future, GTD suggests that the email belongs to the category "Someday/Maybe" and that you store the email into a folder with this label.

thanks getting back here

not a paper GTD binder

I wonder why you changed to notion, never herd of it
,so that I don't have to look into my email when I review my projects and next actions.
right so that makes sense

that's the problem that I have - just have a bunch of things built up in those labelled 2 folders from Asana, which have just built up (which feel like I can't address right now - but at same time want to do something with it in the future?
and that you store the email into a folder with this label.

I don't see this as a email problem - it's a clarifying problem which happens to be in your email in your exmaple

A lot of people have loooong lists of Someday/Maybe - which is not a problem. It just means that there are things they are not commited to do anything about in the present moment, but that they don't want to delete entirely.

If items in your Someday/Maybe are a concern, try putting it back into your inbox and PROPERLY clarify them using the GTD workflow for clarifying.
Usually, things that are on someone's mind haven't been properly clarified.

Not in my case, but choice of tool is a personal thing.
right well @Gtds i mean @FocusGuy was trying convince me that using paper binder is best for myself, after being linked to bill gates being succeful TYPO using it?
or maybe later?
should I put this on my someday maybe? Y or N?
?
"Waiting for and Someday/Maybe, on the other hand, are not entered into my list manager in addition to being kept in the Waiting for and Someday/Maybe folders" above your responding to? saying they - I shouldn't have these folders in my e-mail? "
