I would be really grateful to have the chance to try Gmail. Can I please get an invite?

I've posted in other sections of the board here, but not this section and I'm a newbie.

Re: gmail account

Helen,

I tried sending your invite but Yahoo bounced the mail. Let me know if the email address below is correct. I will resend the invite.

Now that y'all have Gmail, let's hear about some GTD-ing over there! Have you found it helpful ?

Elena,

I started using Gmail about 2 weeks ago, about the same time I started implementing the GTD system. One of the unique things about Gmail is you can label your email. So I set up simple lables, @Reference-Tech, @Reference-Personal, several projects and other lables.

I also like Gmail because I can follow all my email in thread view. This way I can see the whol convcesation. I can also archive messages, label them, and search for them later. It has been a real good system.

I use Outlook, and until Gmail offers POP3 access to get mail this is how I will have to manage my non-work email.

It kinda sucks because I've got Oulook working real well for lists and actions.

Importing old mail into Gmail

I found a free utility that will transfer old e-mail "Mbx" files to Gmail. It seems to work well on my 1000s of Eudora messages.

http://blog.codefront.net/archives/2004/06/21/gexodus-a-graphical-gmail-import-tool

It isn't perfect: The time stamp of the e-mail changes to the time of export.
Nice feature: You can append a phrase of your choice to the subject line. Based on some online advice, I appended "eudora" to every message, and set a Gmail filter to apply a label to every incoming message with "eudora" in the subject line. Now I can easily manage the exported messages.
