Bad Philosophy
I have used Franklin-Covey off and on for several years and I'm looking at GTD right now. One of the things that always bugged me about Franklin-Covey was the fact that they pushed bad philosophy along with their organization tools.
If you really want to work out the kind of issues posted here, you'd be much better off reading Aristotle or Aquinas or contemporary authors that explain their thought rather than looking for answers here.
A good starting point would be "Aristotle for Everybody (Everyone?)" by Mortimer Adler.
A more recent book that I have not read but it looks good is "Creating the Good Life" by James O'Toole.
Ralph McInery has some good books on Thomas Aquinas.
Best of Luck!
